ANNUAL SAAF JUKSKEI CHAMPIONSHIP AT AFB
BLOEMSPRUIT OVER PERIOD 1 OCTOBER TO 8 OCTOBER 2005
The annual SAAF Jukskei Championship was held at AFB
Bloemspruit over period 1 October to 8 October 2005. This
year the number of players drop if compared to last year,
AFB Hoedspruit did not participated. The week started with
the training session for all members present, new and not so
experienced players played with experienced players to
develop their Jukskei skills. Sunday the traditional church
service and initiation program for the new players was held
followed with a braai.
Monday morning every one was anxious that the games to
start. The championships consisted of the following
competitions, Doubles, Trips and inter unit and region in A,
B and C-sections. Single was played in the A section only
and after the days play for the members who wanted to play
singles. All the players participated fiercely for the top
spot in every section. The weather this year also played
along and it was pleasant, no strong winds to compete with.
The OC of AFB Bloemspruit, Col F.Z. Msimang and the Jukskei
players of Bloemspruit must be thanked for the work done to
prepare for the championship. On Friday the “Jong Bul- Ou
Bul games and the AMG-SAAF games where played. Every one was
waiting for Friday evening as it is the when the SAAF Teams
are announced and all the awards handed over. Maj Gen E.
Dert handed over the trophies and medallions. Friday evening
Brig Gen C. Eksteen was welcomed as the new patron of SAAF
Jukskei and he also handed the medallions for the SAAF
Teams.

Saturday every one awakes to a very wet
Bloemspruit as a rain storm past by in the early morning and
some members were scared of the thunderstorm. From early all
the participating teams from the Bloemfontein area and
surroundings arrive to play against the SAAF teams, this is
the highlight of the week to represent the SAAF in your
sport. The schedule games were interrupt the afternoon by a
rainstorm and the rest of the afternoons games were
cancelled.
