Siyandiza AFB Makhado Competition awards

The joyful day finally arrived on 31 October 2005 when the prizes for the Siyandiza Schools competition held at AFB Makhado were distributed. Happy were the three winning schools in the Limpopo Province as hundreds of eager children in the playgrounds waited anxiously for the arrival of the ‘white bird’ to bring them their hard earned prizes.

More than 4,000 learners that attended the Fighter Meet at AFB Makhado, competed for the three Photostat machines being sponsored by Gestetner. The AFB Makhado Siyandiza team under Capt Takalani, supported by Maj Gen Ngema and Colonel George Ramaramiza, arranged an aviation awareness competition between the local schools. Moshobaba High, Mokgofe High from Polokwane and Thohoyandou Technical High from Thohoyandou were eventually declared the three winners of the Gestetner Photostat machines.

The Siyandiza team led by Maj Gen L.N. Ngema, together with Ms Bridgette Reynolds the Managing Director of Gestetner, and Ms Cebile Khanyi from the Department of Education, were taken by 19 Squadron’s Oryx Helicopter to deliver the machines to three schools. Congratulations are appropriate while thanks must go to the Sponsors, Gestetner, for their generous contributions to the schools thereby indirectly supporting aviation awareness in the Limpopo Province.
