SAAF Museum Marketing
Drive Received a Boost
By Lt Zola Nombida
SAAF Museum Corporate Communication Officer
On 12 September 2005, the Air Force Museum
welcomed two members from the Directorate of Protection
services and two Reserve Force members. These members were
Sgt Terence Vukela and Cpl Brenda Chauke and both of them
were working at 516 Squadron at Air Command. Over the past
years the number of school visiting groups has dramatically
increased therefore the presence of these members is
undoubtedly going to improve the service rendered to the
public.
For example, Sgt Vukela was a tour
consultant for ship coordinating tours and Travel Company
before he joined the Air Force in 1994. The tours he
conducted were purely educational and he said that he was
excited when he found out that at the Museum he was mainly
going to be responsible for educational tours. It is
interesting to educate school children about aviation
because most children especially from previous disadvantaged
black communities were never exposed to aviation before he
said.
And Cpl Brenda Chauke was detached to the
Research and Development section at Air Force Gymnasium
prior to her appointment as the assistant educational NCO at
the Museum. “Before I joined the Air Force I worked as a
receptionist for a Nursery school” she said. Since, she will
mainly be conducting tours, it is hoped that kids will find
her company interesting and fascinating. “I am excited about
my new appointment because my aim is to make a difference
and add value in educating the youth about aviation” she
said. Apart from these members, L/Cpl George Mpho Keetile
and Amn Ross Kgomotso Molokomme from Air Command Reserve
section also joined the SAAF Museum.
Amn Ross Kgomotso Molokomme is working in
the SAAF Museum administration office helping the secretary
with administration work. Besides that she is also helping
the corporate communication office in handling the large
volume of school visiting groups. “It is pleasing to be here
because I will at times be involved with Siyandiza and have
a chance to educate the youth about aviation careers in the
Air Force “she said. “With the additional members, the SAAF
Museum is on the right track in gradually addressing the
issue of representivity among the Museum personnel,” Col
Spolander who is the Officer in Charge of the Museum said
while welcoming the new members. |
