Bloemspruit Medal Parade

On 16 September 2005 a medal parade was held in “the heart of the country” as Col Msimang, the Officer Commanding AFB Bloemspruit, fondly spoke of his base.

The hospitality and friendliness of everyone on the base really made one and all feel right at home which ensured a relaxed atmosphere throughout the proceedings.

Even though the sun burned down on the recipients, members on parade and the SAAF band, they all conducted themselves with the utmost professionalism and gave the spectators something to look at, listen to and remember.

A formation fly-past by the Rooivalk, Alouette III and 2 Oryx helicopters added extra splendour to this occasion, where thirty-two recipients proudly stepped forward to accept medals for their various achievements from the Review Officer, Brig Gen Sibiya.

In her speech Gen Sibiya encouraged the recipients to commit themselves to excellence in all they do, to strive for perfection and to cultivate a lifelong culture of learning. “Use every moment of your time wisely to ensure that no day passes in which you have not grown in knowledge, skills and character and have not enhanced your image as a role model,” she said.
