Drakensberg team building exercise

Over the weekend of 15 to 17 April 2005, Honorary Colonels of the Air Force and the Air Force Board met for their annual work session at Dragon Peaks Park in the Drakensberg.

The underlying intent of this team-building exercise was to promote interaction between the Honorary Colonels and top management of the South African Air Force, in order to achieve the communication objectives of the Chief of the Air Force and the Air Force Board.

Support for the Air Force and the aim of attaining
Brig Gen Greyling, Mrs Greyling, Lt Gen Gagiano, Mrs Leonie Gagiano, Hon Col Cooke and his wife Mrs Lorna Cooke on top of the Drakensbergexcellence in communication were the main messages and theme of this meeting. The formal work session over the weekend focused on the role of Honorary Colonels in the SAAF and the role of the Air Force Board, as well as challenges faced by the SAAF. A presentation on the SAAF’s vision 2012 by Brig Gen P.J. van Zyl was well received by the members.

The relaxed atmosphere, scenic surroundings and favourable ambience of the Drakensberg enhanced teamwork and discussions, ensuring the completion of planned goals and objectives.

A falcon show, a visit to the mountain flying training area and a performance by the Drakensberg Boys Choir with Honorary Colonel Yvonne Chaka Chaka were part of the informal team-building exercises that contributed to the success of the weekend.
