Eunice Leadership Project
The Eunice High School in
Bloemfontein each year is gives matric girls the opportunity
to develop their leadership skills in which they have to
identify and execute a project. A group from this school got
their inspiration from a Siyandiza programme and named their
project “TOY SOLDIERS - WE ARE FLYING”
This group approached AFB Bloemspruit to help them with this
project and to give children an opportunity they will never
forget. Their idea was to identify children from an
orphanage and to entertain them for the day. They identified
8 children from an orphaned from an institution called “Ons
Kinderhuis”. As part of the day programme the children were
taken to McDonalds’ for a meal and thereafter taken for a
visit to the Air Force Base.
On arrival they were entertained by the 506 Squadron Dog
Unit who presented them with a dog show. They then visited
the Fire Section where firemen entertained the group with a
presentation on the fire enjin.
The highlight of the day came when the children were flown
back to Eunice High School where they landed safely in an
Oryx helicopter on the hockey field.
