The South African President, Honourable Mr Kgalema Motlanthe, presented letters of credence to six foreign envoys at the Presidential Guest House on 17 March 2009 in Tshwane.

The Head of State commissioned the following foreign representatives: His Excellency (HE) Mr. Geoffrey John Randal (High Commissioner Designate New Zealand), HE Mr. Audley Rodrigues (High Commissioner Designate Republic of Jamaica, HE Mr. Joāo Nugent Ramos-Pinto (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designate Republic of Portugal).

The list also included: HE Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designate Socialist Republic of Vietnam), HE Mr. Daul Matute-Mejia (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Designate Republic of Peru) and HE Mr. Bernard William Baker (High Commissioner Designate Republic of Singapore).

Foreign Affairs officials settled in the president and the ceremonial services from the South African Police Service (SAPS), South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and other Government Departments.
